Investor confidence waning under UPND – Mundubile

By NATION REPORTER
INVESTOR confidence has vanished under the UPND administration and Zambia has not attracted any new investor in the last two years, Brian Mundubile has said.
Mr Mundubile, the Leader of opposition in Parliament says it was sad that the UPND administration had not brought any new investors in the country, since taking over power after the 2021 general elections
He said President Hakainde Hichilema, Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry Chipoka Mulenga and ambassadors have let the country down by failing to attract new investors.
Mr Mundubile said the country would continue losing out on investment opportunities because the UPND government was only looking to the West while ignoring the East, especially Russia, China, India and Brazil.
Mr Mundubile has claimed that the investment environment in Zambia had become unpredictable with the change of foreign police after the UPND assumed power in 2021.
He stated that investors were becoming sceptical about Zambia’s inconsistency in its foreign policy and that government should realise that investor confidence was waning because of the uncertainties surrounding Zambia’s policy on international relations.
He said President Hichilema had undertaken a trip to the United States of America while in opposition where he revealed that he secured US$25 billion investment pledges, which would be actualised immediately after assuming the presidency of the country
