Statin use is associated with lower risk of stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation

A region-wide study in more than 50,000 patients with atrial fibrillation has found reduced risks of stroke and transient ischemic attack in those who started statins within a year of diagnosis compared with those who did not. The findings are presented at EHRA 2023, a scientific congress of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), held April 16–18 in Barcelona.
