Drought disaster to benefit commercial farmers

THE declaration of the drought as a national disaster by President Hakainde Hichilema is but a scandalous disaster meant to benefit and promote the interests of commercial farmers who shall have the privilege of accessing financial support from the country’s treasury at the expense of ordinary and peasant farmers, Brebner Changala has said.

Mr Changala says the call to commercial farmers to immediately venture into irrigated winter maize and the idea of harvesting water is essentially meant to promote the interests of commercial farmers because such an undertaking was largely labour and capital intensive. CLICK HERE TO READ MORE
