ZAMBIA Revenue Authority (ZRA) has recognised and awarded eight companies, 11 individuals and the University of Zambia, ZICA Chapter and Copperbelt University Management and Accountancy Association for their contributions to customs operations.

Speaking during the commemoration of the International Customs Day 2024, ZRA acting Director General, Dingani Banda in a speech read by Commissioner Direct Taxes, Joseph Nonde said ZRA emphasised the importance of reinforcing established relationships and actively seeking connections with non-traditional stakeholders.

“We are essentially exemplifying the spirit of networking that is embedded in the operations and staff culture of ZRA. When we build an inclusive and purpose-driven network, we break down silos, foster knowledge sharing and unlock collective potential. We understand therefore, that networking and collaboration are not an option but necessary competencies if we are to satisfy the expectations of our stakeholders,” he said.

Mr Banda said the ZRA corporate strategic plan places high value on collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders that was why it continued to evolve and innovate the way it conducts business.

The International Customs Day 2024 was held under the theme customs engaging traditional and new partners with purpose and ZRA awarded companies including Coca Cola Beverages Limited, First Quantum Minerals Trident Limited, Hitachi Construction Machinery Zambia Limited, Professional Insurance, A plus General Insurance, Road Transport and Safety Agency and National Road Fund Agency.

And ZRA acting Commissioner customs Services, Patricia Lungu said the annual event was a historic significant as it marked a day when sovereign nations decided to cooperate in global trade facilitation.

She said the International Customs Day was a day on which ZRA not only celebrate the contribution of this noble career to society but also other stakeholders who, in conjunction with customs, contributed to the development of the country.
