Wedson back at Zanaco

SENSATIONAL Zanaco FC have appointed Wedson Nyirenda as head coach, dropping   consultant Emmanuel Amunike and team head coach Kelvin Kaindu following the team’s poor performance in the FAZ Super League.

After failing to win any game in the last eight games picking three draws and five losses, Zanaco are13th on the Super League table with 34 points.

Failure to win any game has compelled club management to say bye to the Nigerian legend Amunike, his assistant Emeka Amadi and head coach Kaindu. 

“The Board of Directors and Management of Zanaco Football Club wishes to announce that the club has separated with the consultant coach Emmanuel Amuneke and the assistant coach Emeka Amadi. The club has also separated with the head coach, Kelvin Kaindu.

“The Board of Directors and Management wish to thank the three coaches for the services rendered and accordingly wish the coaches all the best in their future endeavours,” the club’s Chief Executive Officer, Modest Hamalabbi said in a statement.

Hamalabbi said the club was delighted to announce the appointment of Wedson Witson Nyirenda as interim head coach for the remaining period of the current season.

“Wedson Witson Nyirenda is a seasoned coach, who has coached the senior men’s national team, top tier clubs in South Africa and Mozambique and several local Premier league clubs in Zambia, including Zanaco Football Club from 2009 to 2011. He has won a  number of trophies and league titles during his coaching career spanning over 25 years,” Hamalabbi said.

He said the Zacaco FC Board of Directors and Management is confident that Nyirenda will add value to the club and inspire the team to greater success.

Nyirenda guided Zanaco to winning the FAZ Super League title in 2019.
