Chronic stress suffered by women survivors of gender violence alters their stress response system: Study

Gender-based violence affects between 20% and 30% of women in Europe and North America, and can be a continuous source of stress for the victims that can last for years and decades. An article coordinated by the Parc TaulĂ­ Hospital and the UAB analyzes the consequences of this sustained stress over time and studies how it affects both their ability to detect threatening situations and their mental health.
