AFCON trophy dates Zambia

By NAMO PHIRI

TOTALENERGIES and the Confederation of African football have brought the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) trophy to Zambia for a three-day tour.

This is ahead of the 34th Africa Cup of Nations which will be held in Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11, 2024.

Speaking after unveiling the iconic AFCON trophy in Lusaka, TotalEnergies Managing Director Salamanca Ball says the trophy has been touring several countries Zambia being the eighth stop for the tour.

Ball says Total is proud to be a sponsor of the 2023 AFCON and stands ready to support any sport as well as the youth of Zambia.

“This tour allows football fans to see the prestigious trophy of the 34th Africa Cup of Nations who won’t be able to make it to Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11, 2024,” said Ball

She said TotalEnergies Zambia has gone an extra mile to give their customers a chance to win a trip for two for the final games in Ivory Coast by simply buying any of its engine oil before December 15 in any of their service stations.

Ball also disclosed that the company held a ballkid competition that has given 15-year-old Trevor Phiri an opportunity to be part of the ballboys at the TotalEnergies 2023 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Ivory after he was top in an online TotalEnergies football quiz.

And Head of Retail and Digital Anthony Gichuki says TotalEnergies being title sponsors is honoured for Zambia to experience the trophy because of the hard work of the Chipolopolo boys.

Gichuki added that TotalEnergies has lined up a number of activities which they hope will not only excite football fans but also draw customers close to their service stations throughout the trophy’s stay in Zambia.

Zambia will compete in Group F alongside north African giants, Morocco, Congo DR and Tanzania.
