Madison covers Zambia International Rally

By MICHAEL MIYOBA

THE Zambia Motor Sports Association (ZMSA) has hailed Madison General Insurance for pledging to provide insurance cover for the much-anticipated International Zambia Motor Rally which will feature international drivers.

ZMSA president Sam Chingambu said the coming in of Madison will ensure that drivers and spectators are protected during the international rally which is a risky sport.

Chingambu said it was the duty of ZMSA to ensure that drivers and spectators are protected during the international event which promises a lot of exciting moments.

“The sport is a risky sport. We have spectators so we needed a partner who can come and cover in case of an accident, because it is our responsibility as those people come to watch, because it’s like we have invited them so in case of anything in terms of injuries we make sure that they are covered that’s where Madison comes in so for us this is a very important document,” Chingambu said.

Seven local drivers led by African Rally Champion Leroy Gomes and Arshley Gomes participate in the local event which will act as qualifier for the Africa Rally Championship.

The Africa Rally Championship will feature drivers from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and France.

Chingambu is hopeful that the defending Africa Rally Champion Leroy Gomes will make the country proud as he carries the whole country on his shoulders.

“Local drivers are fighting for their own championship so again they have a stage where they want to prove and get the points but we have got one driver, our defending champion Leroy Gomes who is a 2022 ARC defending champion, he is competing in the ARC so all eyes as a country are on him. He is carrying the whole country on his shoulders to make sure that he performs and we have no doubt that Leroy and Arshley Gomes will perform and make the country proud,” he said.

Meanwhile, Madison General insurance General Manager Chabala Lumbwe said they were proud to partner with ZMSA.

“For us at Madison General it is always a great pleasure and a delight to always anchor the requirements of the Zambia international rally. We have been in this partnership with Zambia Motor Sports Association for years and we have seen the best of it and we have seen the benefits that go with the association,” Lumbwe said.
