ECZ refutes reports of intending to cancel by-election in Lupososhi  

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) says allegations by Citizens First president Harry Kalaba that ECZ and UPND are conniving to cancel the Katilye Ward by-election in Lupososhi are unfounded and untrue.

Electrical stimulation found to revitalize muscle perfusion caused by long COVID

A new study led by researchers at Baylor College of Medicine found that the use of a take-home electrical stimulation device improved muscle perfusion, the rate at which oxygen is delivered to muscles, and endurance in patients who were hospitalized due to COVID-19 infection and experienced persistent atrophy, weakness, pain or fatigue in the lower extremities. The paper was published in Physiological Reports.

Gut microbiota, Alzheimer’s and the central nervous system

University of Nevada, Las Vegas, researchers have identified a correlation between Alzheimer’s disease and specific gut microbiota populations. In a paper published in Scientific Reports titled “Genetic correlations between Alzheimer’s disease and gut microbiome genera,” the researchers explain how they narrowed the search down to a half dozen disease-correlated microbes, with one related to the most significant risk.
