An automated system that flags which patients could most benefit from an underused yet life-saving cardiology drug more than doubled new prescriptions, according to a pilot program test by researchers at NYU Grossman School of Medicine.

ZAMBIA Under-17 national team coach Ian Bakala has summoned a 48 member provisional squad set to enter camp today to resume preparations for the 2023 TotalEnegies Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations to be held next month.
Bakala has summoned former Chipolopolo international Collins Mbesuma’s son Linecker who plays for Jomo Cosmos in South Africa.
Bakala has also summoned five players from Atletico Lusaka and seven players from Kafue Celtics
After kicking of preparations today, the Junior Chipolopolo will be in camp up to March 15, 2023 for the tournament set for April 29 to May 19, 2023.
Zambia were drawn against South Africa, Nigeria and Morocco in Group B of the TotalEnergies Algeria 2023 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
The tournament will commence on April 29 with the finals set for May 19 in Algeria.
Zambia will kick off its campaign at the Youth AFCON in Algeria with a match against Algeria on April 30 before facing South Africa on May 3 in the City of Constatine.
The Junior Chipolopolo will then conclude their group fixtures with a clash against Morocco on May 6 in Algiers.
Minerals commission on cards – Kabuswe

GOVERNMENT has created the Mines and Mineral Commission to regulate the mining sector and to help address illegal mining activities, Minister of Mines and Mineral Development, Paul Kabuswe has said.
Mr Kabuswe told Parliament that Mines and Mineral Commission was a first of its kind and it would give the ministry more capacity to deal with various issues in the mining sector.
He said government was working on a number of reforms in the mining sector that would gravitate to provinces and districts.
Mr Kabuswe said there was no way that he could be everywhere as Minister and that Commission would help to deal with various issues affecting the mining sector.
“Apart from the reforms we are doing in parallel, the licensing committee is sitting giving licences to people so that they can go into production,” Mr Kabuswe.
He assured Zambians that the Commission would go an extra mile as compared to the bureaus which were just figure heads.
Mr. Abuse said the Mines and Mineral commission would be more efficient.

Cop testifies in ECL TV theft
A POLICE officer assigned to guard the residence of former president Edgar Lungu has told the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court that there was a power out at the time the breaking-in happened.
Sergeant Mayondi Dala testified that the residence experienced power cuts twice around 01:00 hours, the time he suspects the alleged theft took place.
Mr Dala also told the court in cross-examination that he is not aware if the house has Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras.
He was testifying in a matter in which Angel Chipasha is accused of breaking into Mr Lungu’s house on August 9, 2022, and stealing two television sets worth K66, 000, belonging to a Shimbinzyani Chavula.
“On the material day on Monday, August 8, 2022, I reported on duty at 18:00 hours at the residence of the former president situated in Ibex. On the particular day around 20:00 hours, Constable Banda Mambo reported also on duty. Whilst on duty, at 01:00 hours, power went off. I quickly rushed to the Genset. Your honour, before reaching the Genset, power came. I then decided to check around the place. Your honour, within a short time, again power went off. I asked myself what happened then I did the same and went to the Genset. I checked there and I decided after a long time to go outside the gate to check if the neighbours’ had power,” he said.
Dala told the court that Lungu’s waiter was the one who discovered the breaking in. “From there, it was around 02-03:00 hours that’s when power came. At 05:30 hours, Constable Banda Mambo was released. Thereafter at 08:00 hours, civilian staff started reporting for work. When they reported for work, Ms Charity Chirwa who is a waiter discovered some breaking in when she was cleaning the house. After that, I went there and confirmed that four wall fence wires were cut,” said Mr Dala.
He said the front door behind the house was damaged.
“I quickly reported the matter to Ibex police station where I reported that two television sets were stolen. After reporting the matter, I was later told that someone was arrested in connection with the same and that one television set has been recovered.” Mr Dala said.

DEC nabs Nigerian for fraud

THE Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) through its Anti-Money Laundering Investigations Unit has arrested a Nigerian national for fraud and possession of property suspected of being proceeds of crime.
The Commission has formally charged and arrested Adeyinka Adesola Olaoluwa a businessman aged 39 for Giving False Information to a Public Officer contrary to section 125(a) of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia and Possession of Property Suspected of Being Proceeds of Crime contrary to section 71 of the Forfeiture of Proceeds of Crime Act No. 19 of 2010 of the Laws of Zambia.
DEC public relations officer Hussein Khan said particulars of the matter are that Olaoluwa jointly and whilst acting together with other persons unknown on dates unknown but between 1st January 2020 and 30th June 2022 at Lusaka with intent to defraud gave false information to a public officer at the Patents and Companies Registration Agency when registering a company named WH Energy and Allied Services Limited whose nature of business was said to be management consultancy and support services.
He said however, the company was registered in Zambia for the sole purpose of opening three bank accounts at a known commercial bank which were used to fraudulently receive and transfer money worldwide.
Mr Khan said the accounts have since been frozen with balances of USD 2, 084, 972, Euro 100 and GBP 11, 061.
The suspect is on bond and will appear in court soon.
