CHIEF Justice Mumba Malila SC has been petitioned to invoke his constitutional powers as an ex-officio Judge of the High Court as provided in Article 133 of the Constitution and consider presiding on the case in which seven Patriotic Front (PF) presidential candidates have sued expelled Matero Member of Parliament Miles Sampa challenging his October 24,  2023 illegal convention at which he installed himself as president of the former ruling party.

316, 690 make it to Grade 8

THE Ministry of Education has announced that 316, 690 out of the 454, 213 candidates who sat for Grade 7 examination have qualified to go to grade eight and 156, 313 out of the 291, 894 candidates that sat for Grade 9 examinations have qualified to Grade 10.

Ministry of Agric urged to review its operations

THE Small-Scale Farmers Development Association (SAFADA) Executive Director Boyed Moobwe has called on the Ministry of Agriculture to review its operations and management system following reports that the Permanent Secretary used the wrong documents in directing bids to Agrizam.

Mr Moobwe said SAFADA noted that the use of inappropriate documents cannot be easily accepted and raises concerns about the ministry’s operations.

He said a comprehensive review of the ministry’s system is vital to ensure that such mistakes do not happen in future.

He also said the orgnisation appreciates the PS’s willingness to be open and transparent about the issue.

But Mr Moobwe said more information is needed to fully understand the scope of the problem and to recommend the best course of action.

He said SAFADA is committed to supporting the agriculture sector and helping farmers to succeed.

LM advises ECL to denounce political comeback

THE Leadership Movement party has called on former president Edgar Lungu to denounce his political comeback and attain his dignity as a statesman.

LM president Richard Silumbe said in an it is not too late for the former president to get back his dignity as a statesman.

Dr. Silumbe said the return into active politics by the former president takes away the respect that Zambians have for him as a statesman.

He said Mr Lungu’s return to active politics is an indication of his thirst for power.

Dr. Silumbe said that the former head of State is the only statesman that the country has and should denounce his political comeback and gain back his respect.

He said President Hakainde Hichilema can only get advice on the running of the nation’s affairs from Mr Lungu but it is difficult now because they are political competitors.
