…Relegation threatened Nkana FC humiliated by High Flying Nkwazi

RELEGATION threatened Nkana FC returned to default settings following a 3-1 beating by High Flying Nkwazi FC in a Week-10 fixture at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka.

After last weekend’s first victory over Prison Leopards, Nkana were determined to get maximum three points as they hoped to climb up on the MTN Zambia Super League table.

However, two first half goals from Isaac Ngoma and Brian Masanyinga and a second half strike from Peter Mwangani crashed the Kitwe giants hopes of escaping the relegation zone.

Ngoma broke the deadlock just five minutes into the first half to give Nkwazi the lead.

Harrison Chisala tried to grab an early equaliser a minute later but he was unlucky as he directed his free kick from a dangerous area off target.

NKANA could have been punished further in the 16th minute. However Mangani Banda produced a fine save to deny Nkwazi from doubling their lead through Brian Masanyinga.

Banda could however not stop Masanyinga with his second attempt after he benefited from Nkana’s clumsy back pass before beating Banda with a sublime low shot to give Nkwazi a 2-0 advantage.

NKANA reacted by making a triple sub as Clement Mwape made his debut as he replaced Kedrick Mumba while Lameck Kafwaya came in for Jacob Ngulube.  Erick Yema came in for Gloire Bakafwa.

The changes made little impact as Nkwazi continued to play some frustrating football for Nkana fans.

Nkwazi made things worse for Nkana with a third goal from Peter Mwangani who sent Mangani Banda the wrong way from a penalty.

NKANA were able to score a consolation goal in the dying minutes of injury time to through substitute Lameck Kafwaya but it was too late to rescue any point for the Kitwe giants who dropped to 17th on the log with six points.

Meanwhile, Green Eagles bounced back to winning ways after beating Kansanshi Dynamos 2-0 at Nchanga Stadium.

Two second half goals from Amity Shamenda and Freddy Michael secured the important win for Green Eagles to move to 12th on the Super League table with 12 points.

Shamende put Eagles ahead with a goal in the first minute of the second half after benefiting from substitute Enerst Mbewe’s cross.

Michael doubled the lead five minutes before the hour mark to send Kansanshi into the relegation zone with nine points.

CIVIL rights and political activist Brebner Changala has described the President Hakainde Hichilema’s approach to democracy and the rule of law as hypocritical because every illegality surrounding the confusion in the PF has state house fingerprints all over it.

Researchers from Amsterdam UMC and King’s College London have shown that cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is beneficial for those with myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS). They analyzed data from trials involving almost 1,300 patients and found that CBT led to a reduction in fatigue and physical limitations. These results are published today in Psychological Medicine.

THE Registrar of Societies has not changed the list of PF office bears for the Patriotic Front (PF) and former President Edgar Lungu still remains the substantive president of the former ruling party, Emmanuel Mwamba has said.

Pediatric Emergency Department (ED) visits for firearm injuries doubled during the pandemic compared to earlier trends, according to a multicenter study published in the journal Pediatrics. During this time, deaths from firearm injuries in children and adolescents that occurred after arrival to the hospital also doubled—up from 3 percent of ED visits pre-pandemic to 6 percent of ED visits during the pandemic.
