Ndola UPND donates to Clinic, Arthur Davison Hospital

THE United Party for National Development has donated 50 boxes of building tiles to Chipokota Mayamba Clinic in Chifubu Constituency and assorted items such as cleaning agents and food stuff to Arthur Davison Children’s Hospital in Ndola Central Constituency as a way of celebrating the two years in office on the Copperbelt Province.

Parks on historic trash incinerator sites could have lead hotspots, study shows

Public parks—open, green lawns or idyllic, forested get-aways—help bring nature into cities. But some municipalities built recreational spaces over soil contaminated by industrial activities. Now, in a small-scale study, researchers in ACS’ Environmental Science & Technology Letters report elevated soil lead levels in city parks that had housed garbage incinerators and waste ash decades ago. In some cases, the measured levels exceeded the limit considered hazardous by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Tips on preventing falls at home

As people get older, they are more at risk for certain diseases and ailments. But did you know that falls are the leading cause of injury and death in people over 65? A new report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention determined that, on average, 100 older adults died every day from falls in 2021. Over the previous 20 years, age-adjusted death rates have increased each year.
