Researchers decode neural mechanism for alternating memory formation and retrieval in humans

Generating new memories and remembering are two sides of the same coin, although sometimes they can appear as separate mechanisms. These mechanisms which seem to be distanced from each other are actually interconnected and are part of the same neural assemblies, according to a study now published in the journal Current Biology, which reveals the first scientific evidence on humans’ memory dynamics.

For decades, scientists have attempted to develop drugs that selectively activate one type of opioid receptor to treat pain while not activating another type of opioid receptor linked to addiction. Unfortunately, those compounds can cause a different unwanted effect: hallucinations.

THE Patriotic Front (PF) on the Copperbelt has lambastedVice-President Mutale Nalumango for attempting to ridicule and embarrass former President Edgar Lungu over his legacy.

Copperbelt PF media director Munalula Moola has charged that Ms Nalumango has no moral right to ask what legacy former President Lungu had left which Zambians should remember him for when the success and achievements of the former head of State were there for all to see and appreciate.

Mr Moola ads challenged Vice-President Nalumango to tell the nation what she had achieved in Kaputa during the time she was a Member of Parliament (MP) as well as Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly.
