UPND wants PF deregistered – Nakacinda

By NATION REPORTER

IT is a shame that UPND is so obsessed with the Patriotic Front (PF) that it is determined to deregister the former ruling party by exerting pressure on the registrar of societies to succumb to their apolitical demands.

Mr Nakacinda said to deregister the biggest opposition party by the government was the biggest assault ever against democracy.

“Such attempts have been made in the past and have just gone to embarrass the government of the day,”Mr Nakacinda said.

He said the issue of office bearers was just an administrative issue that they need to just write a letter to make sure that those things were fulfilled.

Mr Nakacinda said going to the extent of threatening to deregister PF shows that UPND was so scared of the party.

He said he has appealed to the permanent Secretary, Mr Josephs Akafumba to be professional in that office even though everybody knows that he was a politician, he should stick to principle because he was a civil servant.

The registrar of societies has threatened to deregister the Patriotic Front for alleged failure to comply with the order to avail a full and complete list of office bearers of the party.

According to the letter from the office of the registrar under the ministry of home affairs and internal security that went viral on social media, the registrar of society said it was a requirement under section 2 of the societies Act cap 199 of the laws of Zambia for every society to have a minimum of 10 office  bears but the PF has only provide three since 2021.
